BeautyCon NYC 2014

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending BeautyCon NYC 2014, which the organization describes themselves as "a fashion and beauty summit for the internet's most influential and everyone who's obsessed with them."

At Pier 36, there were booths from brands such as Bare Minerals and Tarte, beauty vlogger meet-ups going on at various spots, a large tent where panels were going on, VIP/Pro Zones, and a NYX Talent tent. Almost all brands were giving away free goodies, but waiting in line for almost an hour for a free mascara or over 2 for a free foundation (even though I am bummed I skipped out on that) just wasn't worth it for me.

I would say my highlight of the day was being able to chat with Joe Zee, ELLE Creative Director as well as have a mini-mentoring session from Emily Dougherty, ELLE Beauty & Fitness Director as well as Ali Finney, ELLE Beauty & Fitness Editorial Assistant. It was amazing to be able to meet some of those whose footsteps I hope to follow in one day.

Overall, I think BeautyCon was a great experience and I hope they come back to the East Coast next year!

Review: Whish Body Shave Products

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Millennial Central for Whish Body. I received a promotional item and Whish Body samples to facilitate my review.

Recently, I had the pleasure of testing out products from Whish Body. Whish offers earth-friendly and simply packaged high-end shave, body, and skincare products. Their line of products are all natural, paraben free, sulfate free, TEA & DEA free, and petrochemical free. In addition, Whish products are made in the USA and tested on people, not animals. Scent options for their line of products include Almond, Blueberry, Coconut, Lavender, Lemongrass, and Pomegranate available in everything from Sugar Scrubs to Shave Creams.

I have been testing out the Shave Savour Hair Inhibiting Gel and Shave Cream, both in Lavender. Read on to here my thoughts on the products!

The Shave Cream (5 oz. for $20) was created in the image of men's shaving cream, but without the harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin. Made with Natural Squalene, Organic Shea Butter, and Organic Raspberry Butter to moisturize, Organic Green Tea and Coconut Oil to Smooth, and Organic Jojoba Seed Oil to Nourish this non-foaming shave cream is rich and luxurious.

Overall, I think that this Shave Cream is super luxurious and for that reason I've only been using it for more special occasions and using a regular shave cream for day-to-day purposes. Also, beware of this clogging up your razor! To prevent this from happening, I apply a very thin layer of the shave cream to my skin and rinse off my razor in between every stroke. This is another reason it's not a day-to-day shave cream for me because the shaving process does take a little bit longer than usual.

The Shave Savour Hair Inhibiting Gel (7.4 oz for $26), is a quick-absorbing and versatile moisturizer. It can be used to soothe your skin after a day in the sun, moisturize and repair skin after shaving, waxing, or lasering, and it also slows hair growth! Made with Organic Aloe, Organic Shea Butter, and Panthenol to Moisturize, Chaparral Extract to Inhibit Hair Growth, and Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol Palmiate to Renew this gel applies and absorbs quickly into skin.

Overall, I have really been enjoying using this! It smells lovely and is perfect for nighttime use because the lavender scent is very calming and relaxing. I think I'm going to have to use it for a little bit longer to be able to tell if it actually decreases how fast hair grows back, but from what I've seen so far, I can go two days without shaving my legs as long as I apply this after shaving which is something I had never been able to do in the past.

Lately, I've been obsessed with prints, especially on my pants. They're perfect because you can throw them on with minimal accessories and a plan top and look instantly pulled together. They're the perfect way to look stylish yet professional in the workplace, and also look great paired with heels and a blouse for a night out. 

P.S. I may or may not own the H&M pants in 4 colors! ;)

It's that time of year again- graduation season. While many colleges have already held their graduations, many high schools have not, and I'm sure there are parties to be attended for many of you.

Review: Dove Advanced Care Deodorants

I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central for Dove. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I grew up using Dove products, so I was thrilled to be able to test out their new Advanced Care Deodorants through Millennial Central.

Over the past few weeks I've been trying out the Advanced Care Anti-Perspirant in Nourished Beauty, a floral, powdery fragrance with notes of jasmine and rose and the Advanced Care Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant in Pink Rosa, which is floral and fruity with scents of violet, rose and raspberry blossom. Personally, I'm loving the Pink Rosa scent right now and with summer coming up, these deodorants are must-haves in your summer skincare routine.

The Clear Tone line is available in 3 scents, Pink Rosa, Skin Renew (light floral notes of violet, lilac, and rose with vanilla musk), and Sheer Touch (light citrus notes with hints of almond and coconut milk).

The original Advanced Care line is available in 8 scents, Cool Essentials (cucumber and green tea), Beauty Finish (sparkling sophisticated scent with notes of watery florals, sandalwood and amber musk), Revive (pomegranate and lemon verbena), Rebalance (plum and sakura blossom), Shea Butter (a floral, powdery fragrance with notes of shea butter, rose, vanilla, and lily of the valley), Sensitive (unscented, hypo-allergenic), Caring Coconut (light coconut scent with jasmine floral notes).

With so many scent options available, there is definitely one for you! I'm looking forward to picking up the Shea Butter and Revive next time I stop by the drugstore.

These deodorants moisturize underarm skin to provide softer, smoother underarms in just three days with NutriumMoisture. Comprised of Humectants to help skin retain its moisture balance over time, Occlusives which form a barrier to help lock in skin moisture, and Sunflower Seed Oil and Stearic Acid to aid the skin's natural renewal process, all ingredients known to moisturize the skin and offer 48-hour odor and wetness protection. The Advanced Care Clear Tone line also contains calendula to restore skin to its natural tone.

Overall, I really like these deodorants because they really do what they say and moisturize under my arms while providing wetness protection and I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a new deodorant this summer. I know that this is exactly the type of deodorant that I will need during my trip to Israel this summer! Also, the packaging is great, it's not too fussy and there's lots of product in one stick.

Recipe: Belle Chèvre Scrambled Eggs with Shiitake Mushrooms

I've had this cookbook that I won in a blog giveaway for quite some time, but I hadn't tried it up until recently. Since I'm now home for the summer from college, I don't have the luxury of having other people make me breakfast in the morning, and I've been so accustomed to having a veggie egg scramble or omelet every morning I've taken matters into my own hands with making breakfast. This is super hearty because of the shiitake mushrooms but creamy because of the goat cheese.

Although I didn't use Belle Chèvre's goat cheese (my father owns a cheese shop so buying outside cheese isn't a thing in our house), you can achieve the same recipe with any high quality goat cheese.

President and CEO of J. Crew Jenna Lyons has got some serious style, which is expected for the "woman who dresses America." Known for mixing patterns, and her signature bright lipstick and tortoiseshell glasses, Lyons can do no wrong in my book, evident by the way she dresses and presents herself and by the consistently amazing pieces that launch at J. Crew.
