NYWICI Breaking into the Magazine Biz Event

I recently attended an event hosted by New York Women In Communications at the Hearst building. You can check out photos from the event here, as well as a video of Seventeen editor in chief Ann Shoket. I learned tons of cool tips from the five speakers and I couldn't stop writing down notes! For starters- the Hearst building is so beautiful and being on the top floor was so great. This panel featured:

Eliot Kaplan; Editorial Talent Director, Hearst Magazines
Nicole Mills; Associate Publisher, Marketing, Cosmopolitan Magazine
Ellen Payne; Director of Editorial Operations, Hearst Magazines
Ann Shoket; Editor-In-Cheif, Seventeen Magazine
Mark Weinberg; Vice President, programming and product strategy, Hearst Magazines digital media

Review: January 2011 Birchbox

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my first Birchbox! This January edition is called Reset & Recharge. Each box comes equipped with 4-5 goodies, and from what I have heard some boxes are a little better than others. Boxes also come with a card explaining each goodie and a note from the Birchbox team, as well as a card recommending to fill out online surveys to earn loyalty points on their website. So far so good with everything- all the products are pretty cool, except I was surprised that the sent tea- which I'm not a huge fan of.

This month's box includes:
AHAVA Dermud Intensive Nourishing Hand Cream- This satiny cream is rich without being heavy, and sinks into skin for major therapeutic benefits.

Erno Laszlo Blue Firmarine Treatment Bar- From skincare legend Erno Laszlo this clarifying soap does more than clean: algae extract, vitamins C and E, and more exfoliate, hydrate, and firm skin.

myfaceworks I Need to Heal Face Mask- Instant gratification. This one-time-use face mask is a mini-facial -- in under fifteen minutes, you'll be glowy and relaxed.

Oscar Blandi Olio di Jasmine Hair Serum- Banish frizz and flyaways with this fast-absorbing serum. Work a couple drops through dry or damp hair to add moisture and gloss.

Birchbox Treat: Zhena's Gypsy Tea Coconut Chai Black Tea- Keep things in balance with this aromatic, calming tea. Zhena's goes above and beyond to ensure that their tea is produced in the most responsible way possible, which means that this brew isn't just delicious - it's also 100 percent organic and fair trade.

The youngest Kardashian sister debuted a firey auburn air color at the People's Choice Awards this week. What do you think of this look? I think it matches her personality perfectly and compliments her skin tone really well! Well, what do you think? Yay or Nay?
